I’m pregnant. What classes can I attend?2024-07-23T20:42:23+10:00

Most of them! We pride ourselves on having experienced instructors with pre/postnatal training, so they know exactly how to make adjustments to exercises for your safety. It’s what we specialise in!

The reason we keep our class sizes so small is so you can attend almost any class in the schedule, and we can still give you personalised care. We understand that every woman is different and every pregnancy is different, so we teach the individual. You are NOT restricted to the ‘pregnancy’ classes only, but please make sure to notify your instructor that you are pregnant prior to class if they don’t already know.

In saying that, we do also have renowned specialty classes for pregnancy, postpartum and mums & bubs. The perinatal branch of our studio is called Village Birth Surfcoast, and you can see everything on offer on our website here. Use the class filtering system on our Group Fitness page to find exactly what you’re looking for (filter by “Village Birth”).

Lastly, tell all your mumma friends! Motivation is higher when we have a workout buddy. We also offer mothers group specials, so if you can get a group of at least 5 together – talk to us about private sessions!

What classes can I attend with a baby?2025-06-11T10:34:47+10:00

If your baby is not mobile, they are welcome to attend most classes. We just don’t allow babies to join in our yoga classes, as often people are practising mindfulness during this time and we know babies can be unpredictable. The exception to this of course is our dedicated Mums, Bubs & Tots Yoga class, which is a beautiful opportunity to slow down and be present in mindful movement with your bubs nearby.

In our Strength Room, we have a baby/toddler playpen permanently set up so your little ones can be safely nearby while you work out. It’s our way of supporting parents who want to move their bodies while keeping their children close.

Babies are also welcome in our Reformer classes, as long as they are not yet mobile. These classes involve a lot of moving parts, and we’re mindful of the risk to tiny hands. We want the Village to be a safe, inclusive space for everyone, which sometimes means adjusting based on your child’s stage of development.

If your baby becomes more mobile, we kindly ask you to choose classes that align with their abilities. This might mean switching from a Reformer class to a Strength class for a season. We’re here to support you through every stage of motherhood in the best and safest way we can.

***Please be aware that our Reformer Studio, Retreat Room (where yoga & some mat classes run) and one of our Treatment Rooms are all on the first floor of our building, accessed by a flight of stairs. We do not have a lift. You are welcome to leave your pram downstairs in our reception area and carry bubs upstairs.

Coming to Class

Where are you located?2025-05-01T23:12:24+10:00

We are on Cylinders Drive in Torquay — directly opposite Feed Me Surf Coast, and next door to the car wash. Please note that our reformer studio, retreat room (where yoga and some mat classes run) and our clinic treatment room, are all on the first floor of our building and require you to walk up a flight of stairs to access. We do not have a lift.

See our location on Google Maps.

Where can I park?2024-07-23T17:23:55+10:00

There is street front parking on both sides of Cylinders Drive. We also have 12 designated car parks behind the studio within the hub carpark, a short walk away.

What should I wear to class?2024-07-23T17:38:31+10:00

Wear something comfortable you can move in freely. Most people prefer fitted leggings or trackpants, but you are free to dress however you feel comfortable.

Do I need to bring my Yoga mat or any equipment with me?2024-07-23T18:16:04+10:00

No! We provide everything so all you have to do is turn up! If you do have a favourite mat, you are also very welcome to bring it along.

If I’m bringing my baby along, what items should I pack?2024-07-23T18:15:51+10:00

We usually say to keep it simple. Most mums bring along newer bubs in their capsule, along with a blanket and a favourite toy. If your baby is a bit older (and not likely to nap), some mums prefer to bring a play mat and just carry their little ones into the studio in their arms or carrier, then pop them on the floor next to them while they work out!

We also have a box of toys in each room, a couple of Bumbos, a bouncer, some playmats and we even have a couple of playpens for those on the move! I’ve got one genius mum who uses a laundry basket with a pillow and some toys inside and just carries her baby in and out of classes inside this. He loves it! Another mum brings a cool baby camp chair that folds up. It has a tray table so her little one can sit up and eat snacks while mum works out! For safety reasons, once your child is highly mobile and not likely to remain still, they need to be in a secure area, like the playpen or strapped into a chair/pram etc.

I’m nervous my baby will cry or be unsettled. Should I still come?2024-07-23T18:15:14+10:00

ABSOLUTELY! Babies are our special VIPs and we love having them in the studio.

We make it work for you, however that looks on the day. If you need to stop and feed, change a nappy or cuddle your baby during class, you are completely free to do so. Our team members also love baby cuddles and are there to offer a helping hand. Don’t let fear stop you from coming. Most mums are surprised at how easy it works out! Our space is a safe, judgement-free zone and we are here for you. You are not alone!

What facilities do you offer?2025-05-29T15:28:48+10:00

Our Village has 3 separate studio rooms. Our Reformer Studio and Retreat Rooms (for mat and yoga classes) are located on the first floor up a flight of stairs. Our Strength & Fitness Studio is located downstairs through the reception area. We also have a Clinic Room upstairs where our practitioners provide therapeutic treatments. All our studio rooms are fully furnished with quality exercise equipment so all you have to do is show up!

We have 2 bathrooms – one on each floor, 2 baby change tables in the bathrooms, 1 shower if needed (upstairs). We encourage you to really enjoy the space as much as we do.

Both floors of the building have a kitchen and seating area for you to relax before or after class. There is a kettle and oodles of different teabags to choose from! Make a cuppa, help yourself to the snacks provided, catch up with your workout buddies, and enjoy the community vibes. Soak up the Village goodness!

Pricing & Policies

What pricing options and memberships are available?2025-05-29T15:30:22+10:00

We know everyone has different needs so we offer several package options depending on your preferences.

All classes can be purchased casually as a one-off. We also offer x5, x10 and x20 class passes and great-value memberships that are direct debited weekly.

Check out our Pricing page for more details.

Can I freeze my membership if I’m going away?2024-07-23T20:47:09+10:00

Yes! You can pause your weekly membership for a minimum of 7 days at a time and a maximum of up to 6 weeks total each year. Just email our Studio Manager with your dates a week prior!

What is your cancellation policy?2025-05-29T15:43:37+10:00

We understand that life sometimes throws curveballs our way, which is why we have a very reasonable cancellation policy of only 4 hours notice for any group class and 9 hours for private appointments. A late cancellation or no show means you forfeit the booking or class pass in full, which is also not refundable or transferrable.

***Please note that all LATE CANCELLATIONS or NO SHOWS from bookings made with a weekly membership (including the unlimited INTRO OFFER) will incur a $10 fee that will automatically be deducted from your account 1 day after the booking.

We need to adhere to our cancellation policies to keep it fair for everyone, as often we have waitlists and people miss out. We thank you for your understanding.

Membership Cancellation

When signing up to a weekly membership, you are signing up for a 6 month commitment. After the initial 6 months, you are welcome to continue on, which we hope you will, as we are sure you will be feeling the benefits of weekly workouts. Alternatively you can cancel your membership. All cancellations must be sent via email to admin@villagewellnesstorquay.com.au

Is there a cut off time for bookings before a class starts?2024-07-23T18:16:28+10:00

Yes! As some of our amazing instructors have to travel to the studio to teach, we have implemented a 45 minute cut off period prior to the start of that class.

Bookings will not be possible less than 45 minutes from the class start time. We know this doesn’t suit everyone, however, we need standardise some policies to be applied across the board. Plus, it gives you the opportunity to commit to yourself and be accountable to show up!
